God works through our brokenness. God uses the story of Jacob (which means deceiver), as he steals Esau’s birthright and blessings and is tricked by Laban. However, Jacob returns to his homeland where he is in a spiritual and physical wrestling with God for the blessings of Abraham. God then renames Jacob to Israel, which means “Wrestles with God” foreshadowing the relationship that God’s people will have with their creator.
